Barça’s Motorcycle
Before GP Montmeló, Jorge Lorenzo introduced his new Yamaha, a special motorcycle featuring FC Barcelona motifs. That is, those of the team he’s a fan of.
The Barça badge appeared everywhere in Lorenzo’s motorcycle and outfit: in his helmet, in his suit, in his gloves… The Barça colours were just everywhere, and they brought luck to the motorcycle racer: after qualifying on pole, Jorge finished second, overpowered in the final bend by Italian racer Valentino Rossi.
“Mine is a little a dream come true: racing with the Blaugrana colours. My original idea was to paint the motorcycle and the suit in red and blue, but FIAT holds shares in Juventus FC, so they weren’t that happy with these colours. But instead, I managed to have the badge painted on the helmet and the motorcycle,” an excited Lorenzo said.
To the 500cc motorcycle racer, bearing the Barça colours is an honour. He’s such a loyal fan of Pep Guardiola’s team that he travelled to Rome for the Champions League finals. “I went to Rome and was met by about 20,000 fans who asked for autographs and all. I was thrilled,” he said.
